“Welfare of the World” – The Butterfly Effect

The Butterfly Effect: What is the Butterfly Effect? Why is it important to you?

The Free Dictionary describes it as follows: noun

  • (with reference to chaos theory) the phenomenon whereby a minute localised change in a complex system can have large effects elsewhere.

  • In chaos theory, the butterfly effect is the sensitive dependence on initial conditions in which a small change in one state of a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences in a later state. The name of the effect, coined by Edward Lorenz, is derived from the metaphorical example of the details of a hurricane (exact time of formation, the exact path taken) being influenced by minor perturbations such as the flapping of the wings of a distant butterfly several weeks earlier. Lorenz discovered the effect when he observed that runs of his weather model with initial condition data that was rounded in a seemingly inconsequential manner would fail to reproduce the results of runs with the unrounded initial condition data. A very small change in initial conditions had created a significantly different outcome.
  • The butterfly effect is exhibited by very simple systems. For example, the randomness of the outcomes of throwing dice depends on this characteristic to amplify small differences in initial conditions—the precise direction, thrust, and orientation of the throw—into significantly different dice paths and outcomes, which makes it virtually impossible to throw dice exactly the same way twice.

But why is this important to known?

Every small step you decide to take, today, tomorrow or even those you have previously chosen – might not have seemed like it made a huge impact on your life at that stage but the spiralling consequences brought you to where you are now….. and those you make from today moving forward will impact the rest of your life!

In a very similar way, I did the same… I took a huge step back. I reverted to my childhood self – complete and utter isolation, not really physically but more emotionally;  And although there were things that really needed my attention – I just could not face the world, my issues and the health problems facing our family.

Being a “♦ Clinically-Depressed” individual, this behaviour was a big part of my life for as long as I could remember and it has taken its toll on my physical body from time to time.

BUT…

Once I realised, rather understood the “Butterfly effect” and physically tracked several small and insignificant incidents – only then was I convinced of the reality of this theory… And believe me, it is true!

The most insignificant direction change or decision change, the slightest routine and/or habit change, if maintained – will affect the rest of your life dramatically.

You can even trace this back to the “Fibonacci formula” and to nature itself…

So, I guess my question to you is – what changes are you going to make TODAY that will improve you and eventually the world?

I know what I am and have been doing! See you on the other side…

– Note 1: I am not stating that all doctors and specialists are wrong, not I am saying that they are all correct. I am merely stating that you go for more than one opinion to confirm the diagnosis.

– Note 2: And once the diagnoses have been confirmed by more than one of the above-mentioned professionals, do not just settle for the first medication that has been prescribed to you and end up like a zombie. In conjunction try and use natural alternatives… such as meditation, hypnosis, subliminal relaxation, diet changes. Just, think about it…
